Nubes de verano

Summer, a resort town along the Costa Brava. Ana, Daniel, and their son Manuel, who live in Madrid, are there on vacation for the fourth year in a row. Ana’s family lets them use a beautiful country home near the beach for a month.

Marta works at the only stationery shop in town. Tomás, a baker, is her boyfriend and Robert, who owns an antique shop, is her cousin. The five of them are soon caught up in a tangle of truths and lies that will change their lives forever.

This summer is going to be onlike any other. Ana and Daniel’s happy, predictable marriage is upset when Robert breaks in. He is determined to seduce Ana any way he can and since it seems Marta is in love with Daniel, Robert uses that to his advantage. Robert and Marta scheme together to win over the objects of their desires, not realizing that the emotions they are stirring up will have effects far beyond a simple summer romance.

Verano, un pueblo turístico de la Costa Brava. Ana, Daniel y su hijo Manuel son de Madrid, pero pasan las vacaciones allí desde hace cuatro años. La familia de Ana les deja durante un mes una preciosa masía cerca de la playa.

 Marta trabaja en la única papelería del pueblo. Tiene un novio, Tomás, que es panadero, y un primo, Robert, propietario de una tienda de antigüedades. Los cinco se van a ver arrastrados en un juego de mentiras y verdades que va a cambiar sus vidas. Porque ese verano no va a ser como todos los demás.

El feliz y rutinario matrimonio de Ana y Daniel va a sufrir una pequeña convulsión cuando entre en escena Robert y su empeño en seducir a Ana como sea, incluso aprovenchándose del supuesto enamoramiento de Marta por Daniel. Ambos primos trazan un plan para conseguir el objeto de sus deseos sin saber que han puesto en marcha un mecanismo sentimental en el que se juegan cosas más importantes que una simple aventura de verano.

El año del diluvio = The year of the flood

In a really hot summer, Sister Consuelo, the superior of a religious order dedicated to charitable medicine, decides to carry out a project to transform the rambling and almost useless hospital in town into a modern asylum for the old with the most up to date infrastructure.

To finance the project, the determined nun decides to visit a rich landowner who lives in the close to the town, Augusto Aixelá, a gentleman farmer famed for being a womaniser. Their continuous encounters bring about a closeness that produces a passionate and stormy attraction whose memory will last until the end of their days. In the final destiny of this relationship, an unhappy confrontation with the bandits and the discovery of certain deceits and vengeances bring about an overturn in the life of Sister Consuelo.

En un verano especialmente caluroso, Sor Consuelo, la superiora de una orden de religiosas dedicadas a la medicina caritativa, decide llevar adelante el proyecto de transformar el destartalado y casi inútil hospital del pueblo en un moderno asilo de ancianos dotado de las últimas infrastructuras.

Para financiar este proyecto la decidida monja toma la determinación de visitar a un rico terrateniente que habita en las proximidades, Augusto Aixelá, un señorito de campo con fama de mujeriego. Sus continuos encuentros provocan una proximidad que derivará en una atracción pasional y tormentosa. En el destino final de esta relación, un desdichado enfrentamiento con los maquis y el descubrimiento de ciertos engaños y venganzas supondrán un vuelco en la vida de Sor Consuelo.

El 7º día = The 7th day

For many years two families have been arguing over the boundaries of their properties located in the centre of the Spain. Much blood has already been shed over these quarrels when Isabel, an adolescent and the oldest child in one of the families, decides to find out the real origins of such a bitter dispute.

With the help of Chino, her first boyfriend, Isabel finds out that it all started out with an old unrequited love which Luciana can’t forget. But Luciana is not only set on remembering she also demands that here brother get the revenge that is impossible for her as a woman; revenge that the whole village will have to pay for with their blood. Recalled through the eyes of a little girl, “The 7th day”, a contemporary tragedy, was inspired by recent true events, so brutal and retrograde they left everyone deeply shaken.

Dos familias llevan años disputando por las lindes de sus propiedades, situadas en un pueblo del interior peninsular español. Las rencillas llevan derramada mucha sangre cuando Isabel, la adolescente primogénita de una de las dos familias, intenta averiguar el verdadero origen del atroz enfrentamiento.

Ayudada por Chino, su primer novio, Isabel descubre que todo se debe a un antiguo amor no correspondido, cuyo recuerdo todavía late en las venas de Luciana. Y Luciana no sólo no está dispuesta a olvidar, exige de sus hermanos la venganza que, como mujer, no puede llevar a cabo con sus propias manos. Una venganza que pagará el pueblo entero con su sangre.

Recordada a través de los ojos de una niña, “El 7º Día” es una tragedia contemporánea inspirada en recientes hechos reales, que conmocionan por su carácter retrógrado y la brutalidad de los acontecimientos.

El principio de Arquímedes

Sonia is a high-level executive in the fashion industry who has almost no time to spend with her husband and son. Rocío, also married and with a daughter, is Sonia’s neighbour and friend.

Although she has excellent professional training, she has not been lucky and has always had temporary jobs. Each of them tries to get what the other already has, believing that will make her life better. Sonia wants to find some quiet time to be with her son who she has only seen in his pajamas lately, and Rocío wants power, social recognition, and financial independence. Getting what they want is not going to be easy because staying afloat, like the Archimedes Principle, depends on two things: what they’re made of, and the “liquid”, the work world and emotional climate, where they are trying to swim.

Sonia es una alta ejecutiva del mundo de la moda que apenas tiene tiempo para dedicar a su hijo y a su marido. Rocío, también casada y con una hija, es vecina y amiga de Sonia.

 Pese a estar muy bien preparada profesionalmente, no ha tenido suerte y siempre ha realizado trabajos eventuales. Cada una de ellas intenta conseguir lo que la otra ya tiene, pensando que así lograrán una vida mejor. Sonia busca tiempo y calma para estar con su hijo al que últimamente sólo ve en pijama y Rocío quiere poder, reconocimiento social, independencia económica. Conseguirlo no va a ser fácil porque, como en el principio de Arquímedes, flotar o no flotar no depende sólo de la materia de que uno esté hecho sino también del líquido laboral y afectivo en el que intenta nadar.

El abrazo partido = Lost embrace

A young Jewish boy works together with his mother in a  lingerie shop in ‘El Once’ gallery, and he is beginning the process of obtaining Polish citizenship to go to live in Europe. 

This film tells his story, those of the diverse people who inhabit the gallery, and that of his father, who went to fight in theYom Kippur war some years ago, and is now going to reunite with his son.

“I’ve only got one image of my father. It’s a home video but not very good quality. He is next to my Uncle Edward and behind the rabbi. It fills me with joy and pride. The next day my Dad went to Israel to fight in the war. The war finished immediately but he didn’t come back. Some letters came and sometimes he rings. I work with my Mother in a lingerie business.

My brother Joseph works in the business at the back, Osvaldo’s business is opposite and then there are some Koreans and the Salgan family business. Luckily there is also Rita’s business who is like a girlfriend or something similar. The businesses move, my friends turn into different people, some get married, other change and the majority look for salvation in a European passport.”

“The Cleft Embrace” is a story of the reunion between a father and a son. It is the search for a past which serves to justify us, the portrayal of a delayed embrace.

Un joven judío trabaja junto a su madre en una mercería de un galería de El Once y está iniciando los trásmites para conseguir la ciudadania polaca e irse a vivir a Europa.  Estab película cuenta su historia, la de los diversos personajes que habitan la galeria y la de su padre, wue hace varios años se fue a luchar en la guerra de Yom Kippur, y que ahora se reencuentra con su hijo.
