Aunque estés lejos

A Cuban couple – Mercedes, a producer, and Pedro, a scriptwriter – and Alberto, a Spanish actor and producer, try to get together to make a film about Cubans who leave Cuba, Cubans who do not want to leave, and Cubans who wants to leave but can’t.

Although basically a simple idea, things get complicated due to the very particular points of view of Spaniards and Cubans.

Mercedes y Pedro, una productora y un guionista cubanos, intentan, junto con Alberto, un actor y productor español, ponerse de acuerdo para realizar una película sobre los cubanos que se van de su país, los qeu no se quieren ir y los que se quieren ir y no pueden.

Es una idea simple pero termina complicándose porque tanto españoles como cubanos tienen un punto de vista muy particular.

Las horas del día

Abel lives with his mother in a small town in the outskirts of Barcelona. His whole life resolves around their small family business, his mother’s house, his girlfriend’s bed, the corner newsstand, and the neighborhood bars and cafés.

 It’s always more of the same: the same old problems, same faces, and the same old conversations. However, under his pleasant, calm exterior, something inexplicably cracks apart, and does so repeatedly. He is powerless to stop it.

Abel vive con su madre en un pequeño pueblo periférico a las afueras de Barcelona. Toda su vida transcurre entre el pequeño negocio familiar, la casa de su madre, la cama de su novia, el quiosco de la esquina, los bares del barrio.

 Siempre los mismos problemas, las mismas caras, las mismas conversaciones. Sin embargo, bajo una apariencia de hombre tranquilo y afable, se abre un abismo. Un abismo que no encuentra explicación, pero que se repite irremediablemente. Una tarde de jueves, Abel vuelve a matar.

El Furgón

As a result o an automobile accident, three second-rate delinquints – a retired crippled pickpocked, a man, born and raised in a prision who’s never seen a single day of freedom, and a young loser who’s highest aspiration in life is to open his own car repair shop – manage to escape from the police van that is taking them back to prison.

 They jump a freight train and make their way to the Spanish Mediterranean coast, and hide out in an isolated mansion by the sea. In spite of the fact that it’s the off – season for tourism, the house seems to be well taken core of and strangely well stocked. Almost as strange as the sudden appearance of NINA, a young foreign woman, and who the three fugitives have no other choice than to hold her against her will. But NINA is soon followed by some shady Russian mafia figures, and our three delinquents accidentally get mixed-up in a plutonium-trafficking scheme… in a fast moving plot where nobody is who they seem to be, and where our three runaways from justice will be the only ones amidst the lies, tricks and seductions who act in the name of honesty.

Como consecuencia de un accidente de tráfico, tres delincuentes de poca monta – un carterista manco ya jubilado, un pobre hombre nacido en la cárcel y que ha pasado toda su vida en ésta, y un joven con mala cuerte cuya aspiración es tener un taller mecánico – logran escapar del furgón policial que les conduce a la cárcel.

 Aprovechando un tren de mercancías, consiguen llegar hasta la costa levantina, donde se esconden en una solitaria mansión junto al mar. A pesar de ser época de temporada baja, la casa está preparada para ser habitada con todo lujo de detalles. Y extrañamente también, hasta ésta llega Nina, una joven extranjera a quien los tres fugados no tienen más remedio que retener. Pero tras Nina llegan además unos rusos pertenecientes a la mafia, y los tres delincuentes acabarán involucrados fortuitamente en tráfico de plutonio, en una trama donde nadie es quien parece, ni siquiera ellos tres, quienes en medio de seducciones, trampas y engaños, serán los únicos que actuarán con honestidad.
