Cronos

Cronos is a modern vampire film elevated from the normal fangs and garlic features, and living evidence that the vampire movie is disturbingly undead, stylishly reworking the ancient themes of dread and desire in a sophisticated and unique way. Jesus Gris (Federico Luppi) is an impeccably dressed, distinguished old gentleman who sells antiques for a living. He and his granddaughter Aurora (Tamara Shanath) discover one morning a mysterious, clockwork device in the base of an old statue, which had belonged to a 16th century alchemist seeking eternal life. The scarab-like object is none other than “the Cronos” which grants the user eternal youth in exchange for an unquenchable thirst for blood. Intrigued yet horrified, Jesus is drawn into the grip of the Cronos with menacing and life-threatening consequences, when Dieter (Claudio Brook) and his evil nephew Angel de la Guardia (Ron Perlman), who have the ancient alchemist’s diaries, hounds the antique seller with deadly intent. Little Aurora tries to save her beloved grandfather, and is drawn into the web of blood hunger and violence that surrounds Jesus, who is faced with a choice – blood and eternal life or the grim sacrifice of redemption through love and innocence.

Cronos es un artefacto creado por un alquimista medieval, en cuyo interior se encuentra instalado un insecto, que se alimenta de sangre y tiene el poder de ofrecer la eterna juventud. Premiada película con excelentes críticas.
