El sueño de una noche de San Juan

According to legend, once a year, during the summer solstice, humans can passthrough to the magic world of goblins and fairies, a peaceful and harmonious place where dreams can come true. Helena is a young, intelligent and realistic girl who does not believe in legends.

But her father, Theseus the Duke, is very ill, and she will do anything to make him recoverhis will to live. She will even embark on a journey in search of Titannia, Queen of the fairies. She will travel with Demetrius the banker and vain Lysander, both of whom will do their best to win her affections. But the magical world has been forgotten by humans, and is no longer the same. The king, Oberon, is a party loving chubby goblin who spends a lot of his time selling spells wholesale, helped by his assistant Puck, a clever but mischievous goblin. Magical landscapes, lazy fairies, ambitious witches and… a Queen who is very hard to find!

Cuentan las leyendas que, un día al año, durante la noche de San Juan, los humanos pueden acceder al mundo mágico de lo duendes y las hadas, un lugar donde reina la armonía y en el que los sueños se hacen realidad. Elena, una joven inteligente y poco soñadora, no cree en leyendas.

El Calentito

This is a very special night for Sara: she has decided to lose her virginity once and for all. Having tricked her parents into thinking that she’s going to study at a friend’s house, she heads for the eye of the ‘movida Madrileña’: ‘El Calentito’.

A punky, unusual group is playing on the small stage: Las Siux. One of its three members, Chus, is leaving for personal and artistic differences with the other two, Leo and Carmen. And she couldn’t have chosen a worse time: the next day they’ve got an interview with an executive at the record company with which they hope to make their first record.

Sara finally joins the group, which commits itself with the recording company to giving a concert ten days hence. The famous day arrives. And with it, something that radically changes the scene: soldiers have assaulted the House of Commons. Will Las Siux be able to give their concert?

El Calentito está ambientada a principios de los años 80, una época llena de optimismo y energía renovadora. La trama se centra en la historia de “Las Siux”, un grupo punk de chicas que prepara un concierto para una discográfica que parece interesada en grabarles su primer disco.

Todo se complica la noche del concierto al producirse el golpe de Estado del 23-F. Con una excelente selección musical del momento, esta película trata de acercarnos a una época crucial de nuestra historia en la que imperaba el cambio y la liberalización a todos los niveles.

25 Watts

Javi, Seba y Leche son tres amigos que se pasan el día sin nada que hacer. Reacios a trabajar, a estudiar o a comprometerse, su diversión consiste en juntarse en el barrio a fumar, tomar cerveza y criticar esperando el próximo domingo.

Cuando están separados, cada uno pasa el tiempo de forma distinta. Javi conduce un ridículo coche cuyo altavoz anuncia productos, se pelea con el hijo de su jefe y soporta las lecciones de vida de éste. Leche estudia para el examen final de italiano mientras intenta seducir a su profesora particular. Y Seba se dedica a alquilar películas porno y a usar a su abuela parapléjica como antena… sí como antena.

Javi, Seba and Leche are three friends who spend their days with nothing to do. Reluctant to work, study or commit, their fun consists of meeting up in the barrio to smoke, drink beer and moan about life.

When they are alone, they each pass the time in different ways. Javi drives a ridiculous car whose loudspeaker advertises products and fights with his boss´ son. Leche studies for his final exam in Italian while trying to seduce one of his teachers. Seba decides to hire porn films, using his paralytic grandmother as an antenna.

Pasos

A city in the Spanish provinces after the failed attempt at a military coup on 23 February, 1981. Three young couples, all friends celebrate the failure of the coup.

 They have lived through this part of history together and they dream of being happy one day. Now each of them must choose their destiny. The country is changing and they no longer share the same dreams. Everything is going to be different from now on. Their steps will take them along different paths.

Una ciudad de provincias española tras el intento fallido de golpe militar, el 23 de febrero de 1981. Tres jóvenes matrimonios amigos celebran el fracaso de los golpistas.

Juntos han vivido la historia y un día soñaron con ser felices. Ahora cada uno debe elegir su destino. El país cambia y ellos ya no comparten sus sueños. Todo va a ser distinto a partir de entonces. Sus pasos los llevarán por diferentes caminos.

Familia rodante

At 84 years-old, grandmother Emilia emotionally anounced to all of her family that her niece had chosen her as the godmother of their marriage and they will celebrate where she was born, 1500 km from where she is. 

The grandmother wanted the whole family to accompany her, including daughters, grand-daughters, great-grand-daughters , sons-in-law, boyfriends and friends.  Without being able to refuse, they were put in a caravan for departure. 

During the journey, there are some memories of enjoying themselves, however others tolerate it badly due to the overwhelming heat but each member of the family will live with different experiences: young love, old romances of 70 year-olds and grudges.  An unforgetable journey.

Al cumplir 84 años, la abuela Emilia anuncia emocionada a toda su familia que su sobrina la ha elegido como madrina de su boda y que se celebrará donde ella nació, a 1500 kilómetros de allí.

La abuela desea que todos la acompañen en ese viaje hijas, nietos, bisnietos, yernos, novios y amigas. Y éstos, sin poder negarse, se ponen en marcha en una autocaravana. Durante el viaje unos disfrutarán con los recuerdos de la abuela, otros aguantarán mal el agobiante calor… pero cada miembro de la familia vivirá experiencias diferentes: el amor adolescente, viejos romances de los años setenta, rencores y celos. Un viaje inolvidable.

20 Centímetros (20 centimeters)

Marieta wants to stop being called Adolfo. To have the same name as her father, that repulses her. Marieta wants to be called Marieta and be a respectable woman of the law.

She suffers from narcolepsy and sleeps at the most inconvenient moments. But her sudden rushes of tiredness are the inspiration for her songs: Marieta sings beautifully and speaks many languages. Today Marieta has woken up in the middle of an open terrain, forty kilometres from Madrid.

Marieta quiere dejar de llamarse Adolfo. Llamarse como su padre y tener los mismos veinte centímetros que él, le produce repelús. Marieta quiere llamarse Marieta y ser una mujer respetada y con todas las de la ley.

Sufre de narcolepsia y se queda dormida en el momento menos oportuno. Pero en sus ataques de sueño, que dan origen a los números musicales, Marieta canta maravillosamente y habla idiomas. Hoy Marieta se ha despertado tirada en un descampado, a cuarenta kilómetros de Madrid.

Morir en San Hilario = To die in San Hilario

San Hilario made a living from its splendid cemetery and the ability of the locals to organise fabulous burials.

People went there to die pleasantly. But haste and modernity have practically left the village without work, which is why they now wait impatiently for the arrival of Germán Cortés, a new client who wants to die in the village, thus permitting the inhabitants to put on a better show than ever before and, probably, to reboost their business.

But things get out of hand when Germán dies before arriving at his destination and an error leads the inhabitants of San Hilario to welcome a fugitive from justice. His need to hide leads the man to play along with the misunderstanding as he looks on in astonishment while they prepare his funeral.

San Hilario vivía de su espléndido cementerio y de la habilidad de sus gentes para organizar los entierros más hermosos.

La gente viajaba a San Hilario a morirse a gusto. Las prisas y la modernidad han dejado al pueblo sin trabajo y es por eso que, ahora, esperan anhelantes la llegada de Germán Cortés.un nuevo cliente que se quire morir en el pueblo.

Todo se complica cuando Germán muere antes de llegar a su destino y, por error, los de San Hilario dan la bienvenida a un prófugo de la justicia que asiste, atónito, a la preparación de su entierro.

El cielo gira = The Sky Turns

Located in the most depopulated area of Europe, the province of Soria, where more than 75% of the population is over 75 years old, in the village of Aldeaseñor, there are 14 inhabitants; the youngest is 48 years old, the oldest a woman born in 1900.

They are the last generation after an uninterrupted history of more than eight centuries. Nothing now can change the ticking away of time in this world which is folding in upon itself.

Nowadays life continues. In a short time it will die out without a sound and without witnesses. For the visitor this landscape of moors and pine woods has been kept strangely intact and virginal without traces of the passing of time.

This world forms part of the personal and artistic interests of the 48 year old painter, Pello Azketa who comes to the village along with his wife with the intention of renting a house and spending a short time there.

En Aldealseñor, un pueblo de los páramos altos de Soria, quedan hoy 14 habitantes. Son la última generación, después de mil años de historia ininterrumpida. Hoy, la vida continúa. Dentro de poco, se entinguirá sin estrépito y sin más testigos.

Los vecinos de la aldea y el trabajo del pintor Pello Azketa comparten algo en común: las cosas han empezado a desaparecer delante de ellos. La narradora vuelve a su origen y asiste a ese final al tiempo que intenta recuperar una imagen primera del mundo, de la infancia.

Heroína

It is the 1980’s. Pilar is about 40, a middle-class wife and mother of three. Her completely ordinary life changes when she must face the greatest challenge ever: one of her children is addicted to heroin.

She feels guilt and shame at first. Then her son turns into a delinquent and her family suffers irreparable harm. At that point, Pilar becomes determined to do much more than just suffer in silence.

Along with other parents, she begins the long hard fight against drug trafficking in Galicia, where the dealers go unpunished. Heroine is the story of a mere handful of mothers and fathers who wage an epic battle against those with political and economic power, as well as a large part of society, as they fight to prove that drug-addicts are victims.

It is also the story of Pilar and her son Fito. His youth goes to waste in prisons that people leave in worse shape than they entered, run by a justice system blind to the fact that these new prisoners are people with an illness, not delinquents. Fito and Pilar’s relationship is as stormy and contradictory as their struggle to survive.

Estamos en los años ochenta. Pilar, una mujer en torno a los cuarenta, de clase media, casada y con tres hijos, pasa de una existencia absolutamente normal a tener que enfrentarse con el mayor problema de su vida: uno de sus hijos es adicto a la heroína.

 Tras la culpa y la vergüenza, después de ver a su hijo convertirse en delincuente y la vida familiar deteriorarse sin remedio, Pilar decide hacer algo más que lamentarse y emprende junto con otros padres un arduo viaje de denuncia del narcotráfico en Galicia y de la impunidad de los traficantes.

Heroína es la historia de la lucha de este puñado de padres y madres contra el poder político, contra el poder económico y contra gran parte de la sociedad, para demostrar que los toxicómanos son víctimas.

A ello se sumará el drama individual de Pilar con su hijo Fito, cuya juventud se va enterrando en prisiones de donde se sale peor que se entra, regidas por un sistema de justicia incapaz de comprender que estos nuevos presos son más enfermos que delincuentes. La relación entre Pilar y Fito es tempestuosa y contradictoria como la lucha de ambos por sobrevivir.

The philosophy was always mischief.  The theoretical budgets were divided equally between pop and punk: popular genres without it mattering whether the original format was used for television, literacy, musicals or publicity… A decade of force, brevity and war of the pendantry.

When he is free once again, he travels to Havana to look for Julia who was his ideological and sentimental partner and who managed to get away from the police with the booty from the robbery.

Finding Julia eight years later is not an easy task for Martin and getting the lost money back is even more difficult. Havana is a city in full political upheaval. The time and the place are perfect for all types of gangsters, freeloaders and fortune hunters to turn up in search of a slice of the cake. The city is living through a time of hope and contradictions.

Venus is 25, sweet, romantic and not very attractive. She lives with her stoic father in a remote Northern valley. Their relationship has always been cordial, but completely devoid of even the slightest sign of affection.

 Both work in the fields and make honey. When she was 9, a boy gave Venus her first and only kiss, and the two of them swore to eternal love. She has been waiting for his return ever since.

One morning, she finds her father dead. Venus leaves home and sets out in search of her lost love. Not far from there, David, a young, magnetic and arrogant actor, waits for shooting to start on the Hollywood superproduction in which he is to star. Soon David and Venus will meet, and she will feel that her search has finally ended… although the real world is not exactly like the fairytales she read as a child.

15 días contigo (Quince días contigo)

Isabel has just recover her freedom and there is something she knows for sure: she is not going to lose it again.

Rufo’s appearance in her live means a contradiction. On the one hand, he is an old friend that gives her company, afection an the expertise of survival. On the other hand, she has the feeling that he is not the fellow that suits her best.

Isabel acaba de recuperar su libertad, y sólo tiene una cosa clara: no piensa volver a perderla.

 La aparición en su vida de Rufo, un viejo amigo, supone una contradicción, ya que éste le proporciona la compañía, el afecto y la experiencia de saber sobrevivir, a la vez que siente que es el compañero de viaje que menos le conviene.

Cachimba

Marcos is an insignificant bank employee. Inside an ancient farm house on the point of collapse, he finds a collection of paintings of dubious artistic value. These are supposedly the work of an unknown Chilean painter who had a certain amount of success in Paris in the thirties.

Our hero, together with his girlfriend, feels that he should take on the task of making this “artistic treasure” known so as to leave new artistic wealth for the Nation as his life’s legacy.

Marcos has to go through adventures and misadventures trying to rescue his discovery as certain shady characters have a sudden interest in getting hold of the “Museum” and the “Works of Art” which took on instant value when they were unveiled by the media.

Marcos es un insignificante empleado de banco de mediana edad. En la mente de Marcos sólo existe un objetivo: conseguir acostarse sin prejuicios ni cohibiciones con su ingenua novia Hilda.

Para ello, Marcos la lleva de viaje a un balneario solitario en pleno invierno. Allí, descubrirá algo que dará sentido a su existencia. En el interior de una casa que está a punto de derrumbarse encontrará una colección de cuadros obra de un pintor chileno desconocido pero que había tenido cierto éxito en el París de los años 30.

Reinas = Queens

Sometimes life seems to join hands with fate to jointly create the most improbable coincidences. Just ask Magda, Ofelia, Helena, Nuria or Reyes, five mothers to be reckoned with, weathered in the speed of an urban, modern life, all just inches away from their respective son’s weddings, with hilarious preparations and all sorts of last-minute hitches.

All five have to hit the gas to get to the collective wedding of their respective heirs: no more no less than the first gay ceremony in the history of Spain.

A veces parece que la vida se ponga de acuerdo con el destino y juntos se dediquen a propagar las más improbables coincidencias. Que se lo pregunten a Magda (Carmen Maura), Ofelia (Betiana Blum), Helena (Mercedes Sampietro), Nuria (Verónica Forqué) o a Reyes (Marisa Paredes), cinco madres de armas tomar, curtidas en la velocidad de una vida urbana y moderna, a quienes el destino sitúa a un palmo de la boda de sus repectivos hijos, con los preparativos por montera y un montón de imprevistos.

Las cinco deberán pulsar a fondo el acelerador para acudir al matrimonio colectivo que se disponen a contraer sus herederos: ni más ni menos que la primera ceremonia gay de la historia de España. Y no existirá adversidad alguna capaz de impedir que ninguna de las cinco reinas asista a la ceremonia más importante de la vida de sus hijos.
